When I press the link on a contact in the Trombinoscope module, the details (also image) are shown twice in the modal popup ??

Which version of the extension are you using? I do not have this side effect on my test sites.

No worries, it is just a misconfiguration issue.
In the contact view settings (probably in the global configuration of the extension), you selected 'contact details' and 'picture only'.
Contact details can contain the picture. You have it set to 'show'. Set it to 'hide' (in the 'picture' tab) or unselect 'picture only'.

Which pane are you talkin about, there is no Contact view pane ??
And by the way - is it possible to style the modal - I cannot change the white background, as it is an iframe ..
