I understand that you have to make a menu item for the contacts for this to work... not a problem. What I really want to do is have the menu item take me to a specific contact (for me it's a general information contact) and have the Trombinoscope list be in a module position to the side. Basically it gives you the Tromb list down the left side and when you click on a name, the details appear to the right. I've set this up this way at the moment (e2.ebenezerumc.org) and it looks right, but when you click on a name in the Tromb. list, you get the following error:
Fatal error: Call to a member function getChildren() on a non-object in /home/adminebenezer/e2.ebenezerumc.org/components/com_contact/router.php on line 150
In your documentation it does say the menu item is to be for a Contact List, not a Single Contact as I am trying to do. I really don't want a Joomla blah-looking list showing up next to the clean Trombinoscope list. I hope this makes sense. Any thoughts?

Hello,
even if you create a menu item for a contact list (for the workaround), it will not take you to the list of contacts when clicking on the Trombinoscope, but automatically to the contact's page. Have you tried?
What version of the module are you using? The latest version of the module fixes this annoyance (for Joomla! 1.6 and up).
BTW, the website looks great.

First, thanks for the props on the site.
So, I'm not sure I follow. I understand that the Trombinoscope is a module and will not show up as main content. That's fine, I have the module set to show on a menu item that shows a single contact. When you click on "Contact Us" that is where it takes you. The single contact (Ebenezer United Methodist Church in our case) in the content area on the right and the Trombinoscope listing the the "left" module position next to it. It looks great, but when you click on a contact in the Tromb list, it creates an error instead of showing the appropriate contact in the content area. If I change my menu item to produce a Contact List instead of just a Single Contact, everything works great... I just don't want to start with showing a Joomla-styled contact list. Does that make any more sense? It may just be that I'm trying to use the module in a way that it wasn't intended. I am using v1.09 in Joomla 2.5.1. Thanks for the help.

I totally understand what you are trying to achieve and this configuration is totally fine. I have a similar configuration on my test site right now and I just ran into that error. I will get back to you as soon as I know what is going on.

So you are not stuck with this, try creating a menu item 'list contacts in a category' for all the categories you are using to show people (except for the contact one that works). So it does not show in your menu, add a display:none to the menu ids in your template. That fixes the problem right now. Until I get a real fix.

I'm not worried at the moment. This is a rebuild/test of our current site and is not public yet, so it's not hurting anything at the moment.
Thanks for looking into this.
