960 Bare Responsive percentages was created by Javierito
960 Bare Responsive template does not work well. When I not active any module on the right side, the left side percentages and content area are extended and do not retain the correct percentages. I dont want to use the right side. The template works fine in Firefox and Opera but not works in mac safari. In windows works well only in opera. I tested without touching the css and does not work either.
My page is 960px wide and percentages should be correct are:
template_sidebar_left = 23%
template_content = 73%
But this is not true in browsers I said.
As I can do to make me keep the percentages in these browsers?
thanks

You can check it in:
enfermeiros.x10.mx
The left menu is too wide ... It has more than 23% in width.
If I try to set the "23%! Important" it breaks the page. I have also tried with "max-width" and neither.
Thanks

Hello,
I do understand what is going on and where you are coming from. Percentages vary depending on the page size and your issues happen probably when the page is < 1024px.
What is happening is that for a page 600px to 1024px wide, the left column becomes 35% to make sure at 600px the left column does not become too narrow.
All of these can be tweaked in the grid16.css file of the template. This is the file you need to modify for your requirements. For instance, you would modify the file like so:
/* SMALL TABLET */
@media only screen and (min-width: 600px) {
	.both #template_sidebar_left {
		width: 98%;
	}
	.left #template_sidebar_left {
		width: 23%; /* 35.5%; */
	}
	.both #template_content,
	.left #template_content,
	.right #template_content {
		width: 73%; /* 60.5%; */
	}
	.both #template_sidebar_right,
	.right #template_sidebar_right {
		width: 23%; /* 35.5%; */
	}
}

As far as my tests go, the template reacts the right way in all browsers on Windows (safari included).
You have to understand that whenever the page will be <960px, the content will get smaller. Only when >960px it will appear fixed.

Okay, I'll try. I am beginner in web design, and forgive my ignorance.
Thanks

No problem, really :-)
Responsively designed websites need a lot of work, the template gives you a jumpstart but there are a lot of steps in making this kind of website work perfectly.
