Oh, I'm confusing things. Yes, I got that error. Then I somehow solved it. I think I went back in and reinstalled everything one more time, including the Auto Clear, which I think I had missed before. That got rid of the error message shown in my screen shot. That seems to be solved.
Now, I'm just trying to deploy the styling again to make it look like the attached (picture from my old Joomla 3 install when it looked like I wanted).

I think you did not attach the right screenshot again
