Is it possible to use the "date calendar" in the category that has the news that is being displayed via the module?

So when the user clicks on read more the layout will looks similar to how I have it in the module.

Hello,
the only way to do that at the moment is to 'override' the default Joomla! layout of a category (through your template). There is no plan on making this module a full blown component at this time.
I do have plans to update the old plugin 'article details', which will give this functionality.
