I have found how to solve the problem. 

The code getting the data from the file was enforcing utf-8 encoding no matter what. For some reason, enforcing utf-8 on your utf-8 file-encoded data was producing the issue.

I do have the fix, but I am about to make a new major release (Trombinoscope Contacts Pro 4.0) and I am reluctant to force that release on you.
Is there a way I can just send you the file to replace? I would tell you which one needs to be replaced.
If you are not comfortable with this, please let me know. Otherwise I will send you the whole v4.0 extension to install.

In any case, send me an email ([email protected]) so I can send you the file and instructions or the full-blown extension.
